What’s your major? Graphic Design!
-
What’s your year? I am a senior in my final semester.
-
Where are you from? I was born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska for the majority of my life. I moved to Lakewood, Colorado in early 2019 to pursue an education in graphic design at RMCAD.
-
What's your favorite spot on campus? Honestly? The Rose Cottage Cafe. Comfortable couches to study on, friends to talk with, and a frozen vanilla and caramel frappe to enjoy.
-
What's your favorite art medium or tool? As a graphic designer, I spend a lot of time working on the computer. I have come to love creating digital art in programs like Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign.
-
Who is your favorite artist? Picking favorites has always been a struggle for me. It changes so frequently and the question just seems so concrete. I have drawn inspiration from many different artists. The most influential artists for me (in no particular order) have to be Kandinsky, Vignelli, Glaser, Rembrandt, and Cézanne. There are so many more and the list is ever changing.
-
What's your favorite food? I love food, so I am not really sure if I can isolate a singular particular dish that I would rank above all others. I enjoy cooking and love sampling the various foods the world has to offer. However, my guilty pleasure would have to be a slice (or four) of pepperoni pizza.
-
What's your favorite mode of transportation? I have not been out and about a whole lot over the course of this last year. But if I could, I would honestly fly everywhere.
-
What's your favorite book? My favorite book series would have to be between The Hunger Games (Suzanne Collins) and The Maze Runner (James Dashner). Most of the books I have been reading recently are related to business aspects in graphic design.
-
What's your favorite TV series? Star Trek has always been a favorite of mine. If I had to rank the series from my most favorite to favorite, it would go Deep Space Nine, The Next Generation, The Original Series, Voyager, and then Enterprise. Although I have seen all 703 episodes from the mentioned series at least four times, I still have much to learn before I am a true Trekkie.
-
What's your favorite movie? This question isn’t an easy one for me. I love movies. I have watched so many fantastic films in my life that I cannot choose just one. To be fair, I have to divide it between live action and animated. I can say with certainty that Christopher Nolan has directed two of my favorite live action films of all time, Inception (2010) and Interstellar (2014). Both films also had time-thrilling music composed by the great Hans Zimmer. My all-time favorite animated film would have to be Spirited Away (2001), directed by Hayao Miyazaki.
-
If you were a character in your favorite movie/book/TV show, who would you be? I really don’t want to be anyone other than myself. I enjoy certain characters in the shows that I watch, but I would never want to be them.
-
Cats or dogs? Yes.
-
Lightning or thunder? Thunder and Lightning.
-
If you could have dinner with anyone, living or deceased, who would it be? My ideal dinner would be one filled with friends and loved ones.
-
If you could have any superpower, what would it be? Telepathy. Verbal communication is sometimes problematic. It requires effort on all parties involved. Emotion sometimes does not translate well. Telepathy would, as I understand it, eliminate the inconsistencies of verbal communication. We would be able to clearly understand each other clearly and truly understand how thoughts impact each other at the emotional level.
-
Who is your hero(es)? While I have people that I admire and look up to, I do not tend to use the term “hero” all too often. I believe that anyone can accomplish goals as long as they set their mind to it. You don’t have to already be a hero to do great things, nor should one aspire to become a hero.
-
What is the scariest fun thing you have ever done? Roller coasters are tons of fun. I recently went to Elitch Gardens for the first time and had a blast trying out some of the rides there. Heights give me a bit of a scare, but experiencing the thrill of a good roller coaster is worth it every time.
-
What do you hope to do when you graduate? My goal is to obtain a position as a designer at a graphic design firm to gain practical hands-on experience in the industry. I plan to eventually return to school to obtain an MFA in graphic design and pursue a career in education.

What's your one piece of advice for RMCAD students? Take advantage of all the wonderful resources the school has to offer. I strongly encourage students to join one of the handful of student-ran clubs + organizations.
